Obituary for Elvera Welch

March 29. 1926 – January 1, 2025

Elvera Welch died on January 1, 2025, at Summit Place Senior Campus in Eden Prairie, MN at the age of 98. She was the second child of August and Clara Indahl of West Salem, WI.

Her brother, Leland Indahl, preceded her in death as well as her parents, August and Clara.

Elvera attended West Salem High School and graduated in 1944. She married Frank Olson on December 16, 1946, and they were married until his death in 1966. Together they had a daughter, Barbara Olson-Hentges. Several years later, Elvera married Fred Welch. They were married almost thirty years before he died. After his death, Elvera lived with Barbara in Bloomington, MN.

Elvera was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem where she was baptized, confirmed and married. In later years, she was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent, MN. Elvera was proud of her Norwegian heritage and loved to bake many of the Norwegian delicacies from recipes handed down from her mother, Clara. She also enjoyed writing poems and stories and playing her keyboard without music or by ear! Elvera will always be remembered as being hard working, honest, kind, and stoic! She will be dearly missed!

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Salem WI. Following the service, a luncheon will be held. After the luncheon, burial will take place in Neshonoc Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
