Obituary for Kenneth E. "Ken" Herman
He was born April 13, 1953, in La Crosse, to Everett and Eileen (Hesse) Herman. Ken grew up living in the Bangor area and was a 1971 graduate of Bangor High School; he then attended Wisconsin Technical College studying Electronic Servicing.
In 1973, Ken married Renee Storandt at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem. He was employed for IT&T for a short time, then for NCR from 1973 until 1980, then for Coulee Region Enterprises for over 30 years, and finally for Trane Company until his retirement. Ken was a proud member of the Rockland Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His grandchildren fondly state, some of their best memories are made from these experiences; they especially enjoyed the annual “grandkid weekend” at the cabin. Ken never missed an event for his children or grandchildren, from basketball, football, softball, and volleyball to fishing tournament weigh-ins and everything in between.
His love for his children and grandchildren was deep and unconditional; however, they will tell you that his greatest love was Renee. She was his whole world. They shared over 51 years of marriage until his passing; where even in death, their love surrounded each other.
Survivors include his mother, Eileen; beloved wife, Renee; two daughters, Katie (John) Jones and Kristie (Jess) Peters; four grandchildren, Haley Jones, Mason Peters, Jillian Peters, and Erin Jones; bonus granddaughter, Laurel Erickson; siblings, Don (Kim) Herman, Kathy (Jim) Robinson, Colleen (Dale) Kaiser, and Allen Herman; sisters-in-law, Rebecca (Dennis) Wee and Reetta (Jon) Bergh; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Mary Storandt; baby brother, Bobby; and niece, Kimberlie Wee.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Friday, April 11, 2025, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 359 N. Leonard St., in West Salem. Pastors Jonathan and Jean Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow in Neshonoc Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Friday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and can be directed to a charity/organization of the donor’s choice.
