Obituary for Fred Kramer


Fredrick L. Kramer of West Salem, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2024, after an accidental fall. He was at his home with his wife and friend when he took his final breath on this side of heaven.

He was born on September 11, 1935, to Arnold and Celia (Deichelbohrer) Kramer. Fred farmed for many years in Sand Lake Coulee in Holmen. Then he worked for the La Crosse County Highway Department for 22 years. He retired following his first wife, Margery Peterson, died.

Survivors include his wife, Holly (Olson) Kramer of West Salem; daughter, Kari Sanders of North Carolina; grandson, Brian Lee Warmack and his partner of 17 years, Brittany, of North Carolina and their children, Nevaeh and Cobi; three step-children, Tony Peterson and his two children, Sam and Nick Peterson, Tonya Peterson and her five children, Wylie, Rickie, Josh, Joey, and Jenna, Troy Peterson and his daughter, Maddie; sisters, Judy Kramer of St. Joseph, Minn., Carol Rhode of Tinley Park Illinois, Rosy (Ben) Goltry of Sheboygan Wi; Brothers in law Jim(Valerie) Olson of West Salem Wi., and Bill (Tess) Olson of Sparta Wi; and many Nieces & Nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Harvey Koll; son, Joseph Kramer; Infant daughter, Judy Kramer; sister, Pat Lydon; brothers in law, Jack Lydon and Dan Rhodes; sister in law, Dorothy Nelson Wilson; and parents-in-law Norman and Helen Olson.

Holly and family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Gundersen Health for their compassionate care of Fred.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish in West Salem. Msgr. Jeffrey Burrill will officiate. A time of lunch and fellowship will be held after Mass at the church. Burial will follow the luncheon in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Mass at the church.
